However, 27/12 to 28/12, you need to work on the itinerary. Shirakawa-go is by bus and Kansai Airport from there is a long way. One way is to put Osaka or Kyoto on the 27-28 and cover Shirakawa-go, Takyama, Toyama and Kanazawa from the 23rd to 27th with the Hokuriku-Takayama Pass. To get from the airport to Kyoto or Osaka, consider getting the Haruka Icoca Package. If you are planning to stay in Osaka especially around Namba area or the metro network, one-way would suffice. If you are staying in Kyoto on the last night, a return is a better deal.

Regards,
Xin LiXinLi29288https://www.blogger.com/profile/17412152894030913555noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2577018206385199817.post-83294912430912169382017-05-25T14:26:30.480+08:002017-05-25T14:26:30.480+08:00Heys, possible to give me some advice? i'm pla...Heys, possible to give me some advice? i'm planning on a 10days trip on 20/12 to 27/12

Day 20/12: Osaka
Day 21/12: USJ. If itinerary allows, you could even do a day-trip stop on the way to the next destination like Nagano after Matsumoto and Karuizawa before Tokyo. The pass also gives you flexibility in terms of train timings.

if you plan to cover more ground with the pass, you could consider investing in a JR Kansai West Pass for Osaka - Nara - Kobe - Kyoto then use your Japan Rail Pass for the journey from Kyoto (or Kyoto + Nara) to Tokyo covering Matsumoto and Mount Fuji. This might give you some savings compared to buying a 14-Day Japan Rail Pass plus the rail pass is not useful for exploring Kyoto, Osaka where buses and the subway provides better coverage not covered within the pass.

In short,
for the Kansai part : Kyoto, Kobe, Nara, Osaka, consider single tickets and a regional pass, it could be cheaper than getting a 14 day rail pass.

for the onward journey from Kansai to Tokyo, visiting Matsumoto and Mount Fuji or any cities in between like Karuizawa and Nagano, use your 7-Day railpass.

Regards,
Xin LiXinLi29288https://www.blogger.com/profile/17412152894030913555noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2577018206385199817.post-73714303043908416692017-04-26T10:10:16.299+08:002017-04-26T10:10:16.299+08:00Hi Xin Li,

If you haven't booked tickets, yo...Hi Shirley,

If you haven't booked tickets, you could consider using the Takayama Hokuriku Tourist Pass which will cover your trips to Kanazawa, Kyoto, Takayama, Shirakawa-go. In this option you could fly in or out of Komatsu, Osaka ITM or KIX and Nagoya but it is likely you should be taking ANA or JAL but opt for a stopover in Tokyo where you would purchase a Hakone Pass or Tokyo Wide Pass to cover the trips to Kawaguchi-ko and surrounding Tokyo.

Try to give places like Kyoto or Tokyo about 3-4 days as these are huge cities with much to explore. Also while JR passes cover the Yamanote Line in Tokyo and is somewhat useful, it is less useful in Kyoto thus you might not want to start using it unless it is just a short stopover.

To sum up, if you haven't got the air tickets:
- Book JAL or ANA using the Multi-city Option
- Arrange for a stopover in Tokyo before or after the Kyoto part, up to you.
- Fly into Osaka ITM or KIX, you can fly out the same way or via Komatsu Airport or Nagoya if you plan to travel south.
- Get Takayama Hokuriku Tourist Pass for Shirakawa-go, Toyama, Kanazawa, Kyoto and Takayama segments.
- Get a Hakone Pass or Tokyo Wide Pass when back in Tokyo to visit Kawaguchi-ko.

If you have already got the air tickets to and fro Tokyo/Osaka or into Osaka and out of Tokyo (or vice versa):
- You could get the Hokuriku Arch Pass and instead of Kawaguchi-ko etc, consider stops at Nagano, Karuizawa. You have to top up to go to Shirakawa-go and Takayama though, same case for JR 7 Day Pass.
- Change your itinerary to cover only places where the pass covers (consider alternative places like Nagano, Karuizawa, Kaga Onsen, Toyama etc) and perhaps top up a bit for the Kanazawa - Shirakawago Day Trip or a local tour that covers Shirakawa-go and Takayama.

You could look up on the two passes here:
http://hokuriku-arch-pass.com/en/
http://touristpass.jp/en/takayama_hokuriku/XinLi29288https://www.blogger.com/profile/17412152894030913555noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2577018206385199817.post-55557663943585704012017-02-09T00:01:20.520+08:002017-02-09T00:01:20.520+08:00Hi Xin Li,
